Hello, just wondering how anyone who upgraded to the Series 3 feels about their purchase from the original watch? As it's stands I'm rather on the fence about if it's worth doing so wanted to know if those who had before me had any thoughts to share. Thanks!

I’m very happy with my new 38mm S3, battery life and responsiveness is amazing. New watch tends to be above 70% at end of day, compared to 5% on my old watch. Everything is so much smoother. I wish the new was thinner rather than thicker, but it is not really noticeable. My new watch is the lte version, but not activated.

Thanks for starting this thread. Was wondering the same thing as my wife as the Series 0 and was thinking of getting her the Series 3 Celluar for Christmas. When I have tried her Series 0 it seems very slow to me. She has the SS and was thinking of the Sport.

No problem! I found a few other observations by searching but it's good to discuss! I was weighing up the SS but with sport band this time as I'm happy with my current collections :)apple: Link Bracelet, :apple: Sport Band, :apple: Nylon Buckle, :apple: Modern Buckle and :apple: Milanese Loop)

I sold my SS series 0 and bought the SS series 3. It’s a huge upgrade and totally worth it. LTE (if you need it),water proof, faster processor, smoother operation, more storage, talking Siri, GPS, brighter display, better battery. I’m thrilled with mine. I did activate the cellular but, haven’t found a need for it so, will probably deactivate following trial period.

Sold my Series0 for $100 after picking up the series 3. I'm a runner / biker so having the GPS was the reason I updated. It is much faster, longer lasting battery and pretty much better all around. I am enjoying the update very much.

I bought a Series 3 42mm to replace my series 0 38mm. Both were sport models.

I really liked the series 3, but I ended up returning it. The 42mm was a bit too big for my tastes, and the new features weren't enough to get me to keep it. My series 0 38mm is slower but still does everything I need it to do quite well.

So for me the upgrade wasn't worth the money. But for other people it might be worth it. I recommend trying it if you aren't sure.

I'll stick with my series 0 watch for now. Perhaps next year will be my upgrade year.

Edit: BTW, I still get very good battery life on the series 0. I use Tap To Wake and I have Reduced Motion on. So even thought series 3 has a better battery, it's not something I really need right now.

And to add to this, the faster dual processor is a substantial upgrade Over the first Generation Apple Watch. It makes the experience much more fluid with opening applications, WatchOS updates, powering the Watch onnhas faster load times. The battery life is stronger by the processor making tasking less work, which does not tax the battery as much.

I have been wondering about this as well. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. On paper the upgrades seem rather small, aside from the LTE, but sounds like in real world use the step up is significant.

I upgraded from a series 0 38 to a series 3 42 and I’ve noticed small improvements but to be honest I haven’t paid much attention. I’d decided not to upgrade but then my coworker wanted to buy my series 0 and she offered a decent price so I put that towards a new one. I love the larger screen and I have noticed better battery life but that’s about it. I’m pretty sure it moves faster but again I haven’t compared the two. I activated the LTE but probably won’t continue with it after the trial.

I had a launch-day S0 and just upgraded to a SS Series 3 (but without an LTE subscription) ... the difference between the two watches is night and day. I haven't actually noticed the increased brightness (haven't had a chance to use it outdoors yet - I've only had the S3 for about 36 hours!) but everything is so buttery smooth on this thing - menu transitions, opening native apps like calendar, even rotating the crown to wake the watch - it actually fades in, as you rotate it, incredibly smoothly - so you can rotate just a bit, for a very dim screen, or keep going for full brightness. Very cool.

Honestly, this is exactly what I envisioned/wanted the first Apple Watch to be like. It's AWESOME. And for the first time, I can actually recommend the AW to friends/family, without reservation.

the speed is nice,
siri is very quick, as opposed to a 5 or more second delay occasionally on the S0
i use home kit so having the light control being more responsive is great

and the battery is 40% at the end of day 2 (on my wrist overnight), vs 20% at the end of day 1

i have the Non-LTE version. and my phone is close 98% of the time so not much wi-fi time

For me, it’s all about the LTE... I have either a series 0 or a series 1 (I’m not sure how to tell), and I was still very happy with it and thought it handled the new OS well. But the LTE is a huge deal for me... mostly because I like to leave my phone behind for running and, soon, skiing. It will also be really nice for pool/beach trips. And since I have it, I do leave my phone behind for quick errands as well.
