I remember seeing a lot of people swim/shower etc with there series 0 watches. Is the series 1 watch the same? Just got a series 1 and don't want to worry about it getting wet from washing hands or being out in the rain with it. Are those safe to do?

  1. Apple Watch Series 1 has a water resistance rating of IPX7 under IEC standard 60529. Apple Watch Series 1 is splash and water resistant, but submerging Apple Watch Series 1 is not recommended.
Ps. It's funny that Tim Cook was heard saying that he wears his at the time (First Gen, Series 0) it the shower....

Cool, so it's fine to get wet while washing hands, in a sprinkler etc? Just no submerging?

Absolutely. It's technically rated for 1m deep subermsion for 30 minutes. So some splashing or wet from washing or say rain really isn't an issue.
