I’ve had my first Apple Watch (Series 10 - 46mm) for about a month now, and it’s been great.

I now kind of wish I had gotten the Ultra since there are some aspects of it that I think I’d prefer, like a flat screen, larger battery, night mode, seems easier to use the crown (because of the shape), and the exclusive modular face.

Obviously Apple doesn’t currently list trade in value on it yet, but the value of series 9 is currently $150. I’m sure after the upcoming hardware event trade in values will be listed, but does anyone have a guess on what it might be for a S10 46MM? $200-300 maybe?

Assuming yours is an aluminum model, maybe $150, tops - that guess is based on my observation of the past.
Even SS models were only slightly higher by $30-$40 maybe.
And even the older Ti (the Edition) models were in the SS ballpark.

I kept my S4 SBSS when I got my S7 Ti cause trade-in was like $120 or so
and I kept my S7 Ti when I got my Ultra 1 cause trade-in was below $200

Now a S10 Ti - if above history holds true - expect < $200

Ultra is a different story, right now my Ultra 2 launch day, so almost 2 years old, has a trade-in value of $370.

Thanks!

Yeah, it is aluminum.

I’ve been using Apple stuff since 2004, and have never paid attention to refurbished products, but do you think they may lower the refurb price on the Ultra 2 (it’s currently $679) when the Ultra 3 is released? I’m guessing they will, but wanted to hear others’ opinions.

they may, or may not reduce the refurb price. Nut, I think that Amazon already had brand-new Ultra 2 on sale for that price and I bet you'll get even lower prices before Black Friday.
Do the refurb models come with a band?
Wait til you see what the Ultra 3 really has to offer and then see if that delta price is worth it to you or not, esp considering that the Ultra 2 is 2 years old tech.

I got $285 for my launch day AWU1, so I just accepted it because once the keynote is over, it’s more than likely going to drop even more. I’ll just use the gift card towards my MBA I’m saving up for.

Yeah, looks like they do come with a band. https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/watch/apple-watch-ultra-2

I hadn’t thought of Black Friday, but that’s a great point. Wonder if Apple reduces the watch prices then?

Yup, I’m looking forward to seeing what the Ultra 3 features are going to be.

Was that recently? Yeah, the trade in page doesn’t yet provide trade in values.

Doubtful that Apple will do watch Black Friday deals. But other retailers will for sure.
And I bet there will be Ultra 2 deals shortly after Ultra 3 goes on sale

Like you said, it is 2 year old tech, but seems like Apple watches get quite a few years of support, and folks like you that have one say they’re still great. Are you thinking of staying with yours, or upgrading?

Still loving it, but if I were to buy today, new, no.
I will upgrade to an Ultra 3 if there's a new health sensor, but will also have to see how they implemented it and hear how it works. And then I'd really like blood oxygen on watch back, or, at least show it in vitals.
And lastly, I would go black in a new one.
So Sep 9 will be interesting as I'm also considering upgrading my 13PM to a 17PM.

Yeah, I have a black series 10, and would want to get a black ultra too!

If the new ultra does have blood pressure monitoring that seems useful, I think it’d be easier to convince my wife to get the new one, since it runs in my family, and mine is elevated.

Otherwise, I think I’m gonna try to get a refurbished 2. I just wonder if other retailers perform the type of care that Apple does to make sure they’re sound, and I can add AppleCare to.

I wouldn’t trust any 3rd party’s refurb watch … Apple doesn’t do battery swap on watches, they send them back to the factory in China for refurb, only way they can guarantee the water resistance
