I just got my Series 3 on Tuesday and there's some new behavior compared to my Series 1 when it comes to the Workout portion. I have to lock the watch because certain lifts cause my wrist to flex and my hand to push the buttons which can be irritating during workouts. With the new watch the "Lock" option has turned into a water droplet and purges water from the exposed ports when you unlock after you're finished.

My question is is there any way to use this feature without the watch having to play a sound and stop my music? It'd be one thing if a quick tap-tap on my AirPod would restart my music but I have to actually pull my phone out of my pocket and wake the screen to hit the play button on the music widget to get it going again. Very annoying.

From what I’ve read online, I believe the AW2/AW3 use the sounds to expel water from the speaker area.

As for starting up your music again, can’t you just swipe to the right screen on your AW during your workout and press play?
I don’t have AirPods, but with my AW2 that is how I start up my BT earphones again.

That makes sense and thank you for the response. My point, however, is that I don't swim and only lock my watch to prevent accidental button presses during certain lifts so the water expelling tone is unnecessary for me. Just seems like it would make more sense to have that as a separate option and not tied to the lock feature.
