I have a Series 3 SS that I took advantage of the free 3 month trial on the Cellular service. I signed up with AT&T and then cancelled once the 3 months were up.
I am thinking about selling my Series 3 that was on AT&T.
If a potential buyer is interested in the cellular feature of it but wants it on, say, Verizon, would this be possible?
I know there were several problems reported on this a while back. Is this still problematic?

This isn't a problem at all. There's nothing in the cellular Watch that ties it to a particular carrier. When you sell it, you'll be restoring the Watch to factory settings. The new owner can select a cellular plan as part of the setup process.

Verizon has historically had a problem activating AT&T watches, they even told me that when I called to see of an imei was clear.

I just visited with them a few days ago. Sounds like “most” problems can be worked around. I just decided to stay away from a used AT&T Watch as I had no recourse unless I just met them at the Verizon store.

A lot of people have the mistaken notion that they can simply “Reset” and Erase their watch and it’s back to square 1. This is not true.

You MUST unpair the watch to get the option to remove the cellular plan from the watch. If you skip this step AT&T will not release their hold.

Apple's instructions are quite clear. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204568
The problem that I've heard is that unpairing will remove the cell service from the phone for sure but AT&T has been known to keep the IMEI number active and therefore leads to the problem of someone buying a used watch and trying to activate on say, Verizon. That's what I heard quite a while ago but don't know if this has been resolved.
