I have an Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular that only has a $5 trade-in value at Best Buy, and $0 everywhere else.

I've never had any success with selling things on eBay/Offer Up/Marketplace, etc, so doing a trade-in seems like an enticing option. However, the $5 trade-in value is insignificant.

Is it worth trying to sell it on my own since I don't want to keep it? Is there any other option available that I haven't thought of?

I caught this as a series 3 user myself. The series 3, unless ceramic, really doesn’t have much value these days. Not only did the series 4 receive the first redesign, but it also received the larger screen and watch UI in use today.

The series 3 is a bit outdated in 2025 so you may find more value keeping it as a backup watch. Perhaps when your nice one is charging, for dedicated overnight sleep tracker, or what I do, the watch with the cheap band that gets beaten on when I’m doing yard work but specifically want the exercise to count.

I cannot think of any other options. Like the pervious poster mentioned, I would consider keeping it as a backup and getting a new AW.

Why would you even think about going through all the hassle of trying to sell it. I have an Apple Watch 7 series and it was worth 95 bucks and I didn’t even bother trying to sell it. Keeping it as a back up.

That's the scenario I had to explain to my mom. She has a 3 that she rarely wears but I offered to buy her a 10 for some newer features. She wasn't clear at first as to why we couldn't just sell the old one since it wouldn't get used.
