Looking for something to wear when just working out, mainly running. Been shopping Garmin as I am already familiar with them from owning a few cycling computers over the years, but the 199 watch has me curious. Just looking for something that will accurately track my runs and hold some music to keep me entertained, not a fan of running with a 8plus in my pocket and would prefer to leave that at home. TIA!

The series 3 works well with running, provided you aren’t running 10+ hours at a time. “WorkOutDoors” is a great app to use for running and most other exercising. I highly recommend it. The developer is active on the forum.

A Series 3 should be fine, especially if you only plan on using it for working out. My Series 3 is used for working out everyday in addition to other stuff and I have no complaints. Also, I'd definitely recommend an Apple Watch over a Garmin simply for how well integrated it'll be to your phone.

Had a series 3 for running/swimming/cycling. Was perfectly happy with it and only have a 4 now because that is what applecare+ replaced it with.

Thanks for the feedback and link above. WoorOutDoors looks to give me the format and information that I was looking for. Just found out that Spotify still does not support offline music which is a bummer. Playing with Apple Music now to see if I want to make the switch.

The Apollo app allows for offline Spotify playback, it is a bit glitchy. They did pull it for a while not sure if it is back though.
