If you have a Series 3 LTE Apple Watch, but don't have a data plan or use LTE, will your day-to-day battery usage be the same as a non-LTE Series 3 Apple Watch?

I don't think anyone has ever done a teardown of the non-LTE series 3, but it would be reasonable to assume that they have the same battery.

All Apple Watch Series 3 are rated for 18 hours. But it depends how you use your Apple Watch ultimately that will affect the battery based on usage. As it stands, I do think the battery life on the series 3 Apple Watch is by far the strongest of all the models, given the LTE/GPS capabilities.

I have zero intention of using LTE or even paying for a data plan for the watch. However, if there is any benefit to getting the LTE model I'm willing to purchase that version. For example, maybe the LTE version has a beefier battery (expecting LTE usage), but when you don't use LTE you'll get better battery life than the standard Series 3.

Series 3 LTE version has 16GB of storage, vs 8GB with the non-LTE model.

LTE version also feature a ceramic back instead of a composite back.

Any downsides to buying the LTE version and just not enabling LTE communication (and $$$ sub)?

You are not required to activate LTE if you don't want to. However, some carriers are offering a 90 day free trial for LTE.

My Series 3 LTE (never enabled LTE) has wonderful battery life, I charge it every other day and always have around 40 percent left. This includes three different 20 minute tracked exercises each day while listening to Pandora for that hour.
