Just upgraded from Series 0 SS to Series 3 SS and noticed that the sapphire crystal appears to be constructed of 2 pieces with a seam that is barely visible around the edge of the crystal (at the point where the crystal curves to meet the body.

Is this normal? Prior series 0 sapphire crystal was a single piece.

Can't find any info on this.

Mine had a noticeable screen lip all the way around compared to a Sport one. Worst at the top.

Is that not the LTE antenna?

As a good friend would say: "Fascinating". I believe you are correct. Didn't realize (or even think about) this. Upon researching under that topic (LTE antenna) I found several photos and descriptions that match my observations. Appreciate the note ericg301. Saves a lot of OCD issues I was facing.

My series 3 black stainless looks exactly like my series 2 silver stainless, with the crystal "seam" visible where it meets the case. Of course the crystal versus the case is more noticeable on the silver model. I don't see any differences between the two even under magnification.

The seam in question is not where the crystal meets the metal case. But instead, I'm talking about a seam or the joining point between what appears to be 2 pieces of glass. Photo below is courteous of forum poster Technoholic

Screen separation. Take it in and plead your case nicely. I had the same issue. It took several attempts to even get them to acknowledge it.

Actually I just examined my silver stainless series 2 watch under magnification. It looks identical to the pic above. It has 3 distinct areas--the silver metal, the dark grey middle area, and the dark black glass. It does not have what looks to be adhesive peeling under the top later though as shown in the pic above. If the middle area is the LTE antenna on the AW3, it was something else on the AW2. Here is my attempt at a pic. Again, this is a series TWO watch:

My understanding was that Apple was staging to add LTE to Series 2 and had the antenna in place. Have no confirmation of this, but would explain what you’re seeing
