I had the first Apple Watch and just upgraded to the series III with cellular on Friday. So far so good. ~The battery seems to last a pretty long time. I was thinking it wouldn’t last as long as the series 1 watch but it seems to be doing better in my opinion. I set it up as new and did not restore from backup.

I have used it once with the EarPods for music and have one of my playlists synced to it. The EarPods don’t seem to handoff very well from device to device. If anything, that’s my complaint. I do like the idea of having cellular built into the watch. I wanted this on the first edition watch but of course it wasn’t yet available. Now that it is this one a must buy for me.

The watch feels spunky which is also very nice. The first one was a laggy watch but not here. This feels much more normal to me now. Now we just need to get rid of cellular and invent something more like sattilite so everything works even during a terrestrial disaster. Cell towers are old thinking and it is time to start thinking about the next step.

Congrats on the new watch. Yeah, I don’t get why the industry didn’t go satellite in stead of cellular.

Becuase everyone would need line of sight with the satellite to get data. Not to mention data speeds for satellite is slow enough to be measured in kbit/sec instead of Mbps.

Yes, the current sattilite tech isn’t there yet. You do need line of sight. We need something else. Something that has yet to be invented. Something with the robustness of cellar and the off world nature of sattilite. Get on that will you Apple? :)

In addition to the line of sight requirement, you would need a battery pack the size of a SAT phone's to power the watch. Not practical and the current Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) only has enough battery for short use of LTE (Total of 1hr).

So long watch conversations then? :(
