I’ve noticed the last two nights the Apple Watch Series 5 will stop charging and then start charging again. In the middle of the night the start charging sound will activate. Today I woke up after a full night to 92% charge.

I’m using the original Apple Watch circular charging stand.

I’m hoping it is a watchOS or charging stand issue. I’ll test the new charger it came with tonight. Anyone else have this issue?

Mine is doing the same thing. It's disconnecting and reconnecting to the charger at night. I am using an older (came with my S2) Apple charger cable and a 3rd party stand. I have not tried the cable that came with the Series 5 yet.

Mine charges perfectly on my Series 3 charger, but disconnects after a few minutes on my 3rd party charging pad

FYI, that used to happen to me when I use to use the older charger. I do believe that the chargers for the 4/5 are slightly different-the watch sits better.

Do you have a sport loop band on the watch?

The last two nights I was not using a sports loop.

Thank you. This makes sense to me. It didn’t look like it was sitting as flush. I’ll try the one that came with it tonight and if that works I’m going to use a new charging stand from Apple.

How do you know that your AW is is intermittently charging and not charging? I’m having a similar but perhaps not the same problem. I have my AW 5 on the charger and using the cable that came with the watch, but the charge has increased only 20% in the past three hours. I’ve been checking the charge on my phone, and the battery symbol for the watch charge always appears green.

I have had troubles charging as well.
I am not sure if I am mixing S3 and below chargers w and S4 chargers.
The older design seems to work fine when horizontal but vertically there seems to be reliability issues

Because in the middle of the night I can hear the charging sound activate multiple times. And this morning it was not in night stand mode - indicating that it wasn't charging at that point.

I'll report back for everyone's benefit tomorrow. Of course there is a chance we get a new OS version when iOS 13.1 drops tomorrow, but my test should happen before that install.

Ok, I used the charging cable it came with and it seems to be fine. So my theory is the Apple Watch charging stand (the expensive round white one was the culprit. This is an original model so perhaps it has been upgraded somehow. I’m ordering a new one and I’ll report back.
