Series 5 lost the ability to display "red"

After upgrading from an AW 5 to a Ultra 2 I put the AW 5 aside for a couple of months and was getting ready to sell it when I noticed that the color "red" has gone missing from the display after powering it on.

It worked perfectly while I still used it. I have reset the watch a couple of times to no avail. "red" is missing from the display - very obvious when looking at the app icons that are all washed out and blue/green.

I guess this is an unexplained hardware glitch that mysteriously just happened and the watch is heading for electronics recycling unless anyone has a great idea?

you could contact apple support to see if they have any suggestions, but it sure sounds like its gone ...

Thinking out of the box here, perhaps gift it to a color blind person who has a problem seeing the color red?

It is a cellular model so might be a good option at the right price for someone that wants to track/keep in contact with their kid during the day rather than letting them have a cellphone.
My first thought was that the accessibility option for colorblind people was "ON" , but sadly no.
