Happy holidays

I just received my first ever smart watch, a Series 6 44 Cellular version. I have no knowledge of the cellular side of things.

1. Here in Greece, it’s a 7€ extra per month. Does the watch then gets its own number?

2. And if it does get it’s own number, would my iPhone number not be connected to it anymore?

appreciate the answers to my novice questions.

I’m in the USA so it might be different where you are. I pay 10 USD each month for cellular. My watch has its own number but it’s not considered “standalone” by Verizon. I would have to pay extra for that so I haven’t tried and can’t say for sure but I suspect at that point it would be a totally separate number and not linked. I’ve had spammers call the watch number but I think that was a glitch and it’s not supposed to ring. It is linked to the number from my iPhone so when my iPhone rings it does too.

It depends if you do a separate contract for your watch. If you just add a contract sim option then it is the same number. Your receive calls and iMessage on your watch like you would on your phone.

In my country there are a lot of options depending on the contract. My contract includes 3 SIM without any extra charge. So I use one of them, with the same phone number of course, on my watch. But there are also options with only one free SIM. Then you pay 5€, or 2,50€ with business contracts, extra each months for a second SIM. And there are also options for just a SIM for your watch which would be a separate contract/option and a separate/new phone number.

If possible, which isn't with many contracts, I would take the option of a second SIM with the same contract. But in my country you only have that option with normal, more expensive contracts, not with cheaper contracts.
