I upgraded from a series 4, battery was great. Now I am left with very little battery at the end of the day. Not enough to sleep track. I did a hard reboot, unpaired and re-paired, and it’s still bad. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

I had similar problems with a Series 6 and watchOS 7.0. Since I've updated to 7.0.1 things have gone back to the same as my Series 5. I did uninstall every third party app from the watch and set a simple face with very few complications--all stock Apple. I turned off sleep tracking making watchOS 7 similar to watchOS 6.

But the update to watchOS 7.0.1 came out while I was doing this experiment so I don't know what fixed the problem. I've turned everything back on now except blood oxygen measurement during sleep and I'm consistently getting 36 hours to about 10-15% again.

I’m seeing the total opposite. Currently sitting at 68% and it’s been off the charger for 14 hours with a one hour outdoor run.

Not normal at all - check out this thread, there are a lot of tips from people on what you can try to improve battery life.

Day 2 with my new S6 on 7.01. Battery seems the same as my S5. Lost between 2.5 and 3% per hour yesterday. Did a full charge over night to 100% and after 2 hours minimal use this morning it’s at 97%.

you've already done the re-pair, which would be my first suggestion.
But, I normally include a second part to that, and that's to wait a week to pass judgement.

It has seemed to me in the past, that battery life takes a few days up to a week on a new or recently updated device to settle in.

I think it's a combo of at least 3 things.

-on a new device, the battery is getting "warmed up" and it needs a few cycles to loosen up and reach it's full capacity
-the newly upgraded OS is updating and syncing stuff in the background.
-You're playing with the new toy or features a bit more than usual, without even realizing it.

if you're running out of battery way before you're ready, I suggest turning off the always on display for a week or 2.
on a 5 with AoD off, and wearing it all the time even when. sleep, I'm typically above 50% when I put it on the charger in the morning.

Yea mine is weird. It last me all day like I need it too (end the day at like 10:30Pm- 11PM with like 70% or 60% if I was extra active, but it still seems to drain faster than my old series 3 did. I have always on display turned off, background refresh turned off for some apps, handoff feature turned off, and raise to wake turned off. I am probably just not realizing the all the other bells with the watch that may be running in the background though.

But within like 30 mins to an hour my battery will have dropped to 99-97% with no real use other than being on my wrist while I drive to work, quick walk from the parking lot to the building, then to my cubicle where I sit at a desk. I do take breaks and get exercise in later on (like walking around the campus). My series 3 wouldn't drop below 100% until an hour (sometimes longer). Again, maybe I just didn't notice the series 3 draining as much. Still love the watch though and have applecare if something really is wrong with my series 6 (though I don't think it is).

What I have noticed is that sometimes when charging to 100%, it stays at 100% for an hour or so before starting to reduce. Not always the case though

Gotcha that seems to be the case with mine. But it hasn't been a daily occurrence so we will see. Today makes a week since I had my series 6.

Yep I agree with that. A battery needs a few charge cycles to meet its optimum performance. Plus, like a new phone, a new watch may be doing all sorts of updates in the background over the first few days. I always unpair and re-pair after a restore or upgrading the OS. Works for me every time.
