I usually upgrade the watch every year but this year it seems like there's barely a difference? No regrets for previous upgrades.

An extra 1mm on the screen and faster charging...

Seems like all the faces I use and most of the watch interface doesn't go to the edges anyway. The faster charging would be convenient.

I was hoping for a temperature sensor and to be slightly thinner. The blood O2 sensing seems to be a bit finicky, I wonder if that's improved?

But that 1mm translates into almost 20% more screen area than the S6.

I did preorder the S7 this morning and will be trading in my S6. If I had an affinity for the more expensive models, I probably wouldn't have, but after the trade-in, it's only a couple hundred I'm spending for the aluminum gps model, so that's worth it to me, even if it's not an earth-shaking upgrade (tbh, I don't think there will be many, if any, of those).

I’m skipping this year. If it had * finally * a new design, slab sided like the 12/13 iPhones that supposedly was coming, I would have been alll over it. Also there was talks of glucose monitoring that didn’t come that would have swayed me. But now? Nope. I’ll skip this year.

Same. I want a Titanium or a SS but ... yeah, no thanks for those prices. lol. I'll go all out on my iPhone but I can't imagine spending that much on a watch, lol!

My wife and I got about $220 for our S6s so, $300 for a new watch isn't horrible (Aluminum LTE).

I know they say that, but I have my doubts. :)

I ended up doing it with the $210 trade in for my Series 6. For $219 it's worth it to me.

That is how I usually look at it, and I do sell mine or hand em down to family.

Yeah, the S3s we had when my wife and I upgraded to the S5 were not worth the trade in, so we gave those to family. The S5 to S6, we traded in, and now S6 to S7 - traded in as the rates have gone up slightly.

I'm amazed how many S3s I know are being used today lol.

It's simple math. They'd be stupid to lie about it when anyone could run the calculations 😉 The only reason I pointed it out was because people hear "1mm" and think "pfft, that's nothing", but they forget that both height and width change with that and they also reduced the borders.

the extra 1mm isn’t on the screen. The body is 1mm taller. The screen itself is about 3mm
Bigger diagonally. At least on the 45mm.

I passed on the phone and I'm passing on the watch this year too. Hard choice to make but logically I cannot do it. As much of an Apple loyalist as I am and when I go to Apple's site to compare the 12 Pro Max vs the 13 Pro Max I might as well stay where I am. Same goes for the watch as well. This won't be the first model Apple Watch I'll skip. I passed on the Series 2. I am sure greater will be coming down the line next year.

I am upgrading from 6 to 7. Always wearing the smaller watch (small wrists) and the new 41mm model's screen is almost as big as the original large model was.

I also usually upgrade the Watch every year but I’m so disappointed that I cannot do that this year. The upgrade is too minimal this time. I wanted to change to a stainless steel model after having the aluminium model for a few years… but how can I justify paying $700-800 just for the screen size and nothing else? (Faster charging? Charging was not slow anyway).

There is a reason Apple didn’t let us configure the Watch before the pre order began this year. We couldn’t even compare the 7 with other models. The page was obviously ready, it means that they chose to not release it early. They don’t want you to do too much comparison between the 6 and 7 and pre-order like a machine.

I’m thinking about it only because I recently just purchased a 6 series 44mm on Amazon so I’m well within my return window. But with that said the price difference is $100 and have to really think about it. Is it really worth the extra $100? I would say probably not even though they advertise bigger screen faster charging. but in reality its not that much bigger and it’s probably not that much faster.

It’s pretty obvious it’s not that much of a difference which is why Apple took it out of its lineup.

I’m upgrading from a Series 6 and the thing I’m most excited about is the 70% brighter always on display INDOORS. I like that I can design a watch face and that it’ll be visible at all times. Indoors, the Series 6 was no brighter than the Series 5.

I hate the black rectangle look which makes all Apple Watches look the same. I want to put a nice analog watch face maybe with some color to match my band/shirt and it can be visible all day.

I can get $210 trade in for my Apple Watch 6 which is fantastic. It makes the Series 7 only $219 or $9.12 a month 0% interest with the Apple Card. I too like to upgrade yearly and will probably take advantage of that trade in value
