Seems with a 29w and the included aluminum charge puck it charges super slow, I can’t verify whether less than normal slow charging speed or not but seems slower

Sometimes resetting (holding power and crown) will engage it again or powering off and on but

On watchOS 9.1

I dunno what to do. Apple support sucks for things like this and watch in general, with no inventory on hand in store, I’m sure they’ll send it off to a depot and say it’s fine and that’ll be the end of it

I’ve tried turning off optimize battery charging too and doesn’t seem to help

Think it could be the puck or the fact I’m pairing with an old 29w? But says 29w is fast charge compatible with watch

make sure the charger says PD on it, stands for power delivery, it will increase the voltage for higher wattages. The apple 29w should be fine.

you can also try unpairing and re-pairing the watch, that seems to clear up a lot of random watch weirdness. You shouldn't loose any info, just the time it takes for it to re-sync.

Thanks good idea to re pair

Come to think of it I think I went 9.1 paired with 16.2 beta and then restored to 16.1 and the watch was already in sync with the phone still after re restore and 16.1 backup restore

Seems like it has been fast charging less reliably frequently recently

Worth a shot anyways

I have a sneaking suspicion that it has to do with the 29w adapter. Even though Apple says that its supported that charger wasn't around long and wasn't PD compliant (missing 9v rail) that's why they dropped it after a few years for the 30w fully PD complaint version. I would try with another charger if you have one like the 18/20w iPhone charger if you can and see.

I use this - one cable for my AW and one cable for my iPhone - for when I want to charge either SUPER fast. Usually I slow charge them with a battery (iPhone) and a 2.4 amp 10w USB A charger (charges pretty slow). lol.

But that charger makes my AWU fly.

I've noticed on the USB A watch charger - sometimes it'll charge REALLY really really slow, like 1 hour 10% and other times it'll charge normally. This happened more when I first got the watch and hasn't happened recently. These watches can be a little finicky. (Never had problems with the higher speed one).

Yeah I will do that when within reach of my 20w again

Also a good thought

I have like four or so 29w around my
Place got them for dirt cheap cleared out from Walmart years ago when 30w just came out

They’re still great for charging iPhones and iPads but maybe not this.

It’s worth isolating
