With Amazon selling the AW 10 for $329, I am thinking about pulling the trigger. The issue is that my Series 7 is green (unique color), has blood oxygen, has 97% battery, is under apple care and still works well. Are the improvements (mainly brighter screen, on device Siri, double tap) enough to spend ~$250 out of pocket for an AW10?

I think you are best with what works. Your AppleCare S7. I went from 7 to AU2 strictly for looks and battery life. if I was happy with my S7 I wouldn't go to S10. Especially if I had a unique color I loved.

I have a S7 in titanium that I got from another member here in the marketplace forum. It has blood oxygen and still works perfectly with not a scratch on it anywhere. It is hard to see how the upgrade is worth it in my opinion. My only issue is that my battery life is down at 81%; if I was still at 97% like you, I would not even consider it.

a replacement battery at most $100 is worth hanging on to..... I "upgraded" to AW2 from S7 titanium and if you charge every night there's no difference.

check Best Buy trade in. then have them price match. That is how I do my upgrades.

I did a 8 to 10 upgrade because scratched my screen pretty bad. Before did a 4 to 8.... really not much of a difference in any of them. Battery in all still suck.

agreed, BUT when you do an apple battery replacement, they actually give you a new watch, and I think the replacement will have blood oxygen disabled. Sucks, but it is what it is.

My s10 battery life doesn’t suck. But I’m sure it’s how it’s used.

I've been really close to pulling the trigger on a Series 10, also finally retiring my Series 7. Its battery health dropped to 79% the other day, and it's starting to struggle getting through a full day of use.

On one hand, I could just replace the battery - I like the unique green colour, and it would be cheaper than a new Watch. But the Series 10 also looks pretty sleek, and would probably last me a good few years at least. I really can't decide here lol.

I'm a S9 who updated for double tap and on device Siri and I honestly don't regret it.

Not needing a connection to perform simple Siri tasks such as timers is so nice because I often have horrific cellular connectivity. And I use double tap for answering calls and stopping timers.

If you're running an OS older than 10, I definitely wouldn’t upgrade. You'll lose your favorites dock, have to deal with widget stacks, have to adjust to the major step-backwards interface etc.

See the host of threads here and around the Internet. For example, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255140927?sortBy=rank

Besides, as you noted, you'll lose blood oxygen, which is an incredibly valuable feature and has even helped save lives.

I own a Series 7, too, and have passed up upgrades for several years for those very reasons. Your battery being an issue, however, changes the equation.

If I were in your shoes, I'd first explore what happens if you ask for battery servicing. Reports at one point were mixed on whether the replacement watches (refurbished) had O2 disabled or not. Of late, it seems that, if the replacement is imported, O2 will be disabled, but you'd want to confirm that with Apple.

If someone at Apple says O2 will still be functional, get that in writing!

Of course, a replacement for the 7 would almost assuredly come with a more recent Watch OS and you'd have to deal with getting used to the mess of interface, anyway.

At that point, a Series 10, brand new, would look pretty good…

If it were me, no especially if somehow your battery is still at 97% and under AppleCare. I am planning on running my watch into the ground. I have a 6. If you did, I would just wait until the new one came out and pay full price. But you do you. I think the 6-8 series watches have very long legs in terms of watchOS updates.

I will get an AW ultra when my s6 dies, just replaced the S6 under AC. I think I am set for another 2-3 years.
