After almost three years, my Venu is on its way out. I am now trying to decide whether I should upgrade to the newest Venu or whether I should give the Apple Watch a try. My biggest concern is the GPS. The Garmin watches have always had killer GPS accuracy. I have read mixed results for Apple Series 7 vs. Garmin watches. I was wondering if someone with experience with the Series 8 watches could tell me how accurate the GPS is. I know that the watch is new and there isn't a lot of information out there about accuracy that I've found.

The Ultra has GPS in both L1 and L5 frequencies, which should drastically improve the GPS over the series 8 or anything that came before it.

It sounds like you should be looking at the Ultra.

I would, if I didn't have really thin and small wrists. :D

If you want a Garmin with more accurate GPS (like the AW Ultra), you should be looking the ones with multi band GPS (Forerunner 255/955, Fenix 7, Epix 2). I don't believe the Venu has it.

I really have no problem with gps on my S5, it has improved since I bought it too (software tweaks). Just don’t take your phone running with the AW.
No gps watch is infallible, even the dual band. If you want real accuracy then get a Stryd.
If you are used to oled want to stick with Garmin, might be worth holding out for the 265

Rumor has it that there's a Venu 3 coming out sometime soon. Possibly this year.
