I don't care about GPS or brighter screen. Swimproof is nice but didn't sell me on the S2. What I do care about is battery life and I get 35% more of it with the Series 2 because I don't use GPS (phone is with me) and I set the screen brightness to low. The 38mm really needed the extra juice! Just saying it's the main reason I went with the S2 over the S1.

The 38mm really needed the extra juice! I think it's silly that most reviews ignore the improved battery life and louder speaker. Just saying it's the main reason I went with the S2 over the S1.

Probably because GPS and brighter screen are 2 of the 3 main reasons for upgrading (water resistance being the other). Most reviewers recommend saving money and buying the Series 1 if you don't need those things.
 
I am upgrading for the brighter screen and better water resistance. I spend a lot of time outdoors and it will be nice not to have to cup my hand over the watch to see the display (hopefully).
