I have an AW S6. Today I noticed the Apple logo flashing on the screen and then the screen went blank. Now there is nothing on the screen but I can ping the watch from my phone and it makes a sound. If I hold the screen down and then push the crown I can feel the haptic feedback. I have tried a hard reset and also charging it but still the screen is blank.

Does this need a trip to Apple?

have you pushed and held crown and side button for like 10 sec? that's a force reboot.
if that doesn't get it back to life, well, unless you have AC+ Apple will charge you I think $250+ for a repair, which for a S6 is not worth it imho ...
have you been in contact with water?

Yeah done the crown. And yes it has been in water but then it’s been in water it’s whole life, definitely not having a watch that cannot go in water!!

I think it’s ‘done’, will taker it in and see if it can be diagnosed for free.

Now is not the time I wanted to get a new watch, S11 and UW3 on the horizon but not quite yet 😤

Well.. it’s now working again! 26 hours after it stopped working it just came back to life. I had one last thing to try and that was to let the battery run down completely and then charge it, so it had to restart, but it was just sitting on the side and decided to work again.

My feeling is there is impending doom and it will need replacing but I hoping it will hold on for a few months until the new watches are announced.

If it does die again just place it back on the charger and leave it. This does happen when the watch sometimes gets confused and thinks it is empty.

Among all these responses, boot loops and unexpected shutdowns/restarts seem to be related to battery health, as well as a possible issue with the logic board.

Could you please let me know the battery health of your Apple Watch Series 6? Also, have you tried updating watchOS? If so, did you accidentally abort the update by removing or restarting it from the charger during installation?

Battery health is 88%. It had a new battery about 4/5 months ago. I never force or stop watchOS updates, just let it do it’s thing when on charge - it goes on the charger every night while I sleep so enough time to update uninterrupted.

Thinking about it, down to 88% in such a short time doesn’t sound right.. might take it back in for them to check that. Maybe the battery is not perfect.

Indeed.

Was the battery replaced by Apple Store or AppleCare? They should have some sort of warranty that covers repaired parts on Apple Watch.
