My specs are:

2.5ghz Intel Core i7
16gb 1600mhz DDR3
Nvidia GeForce GT 750M 2048mb

All software up to date...I run 3 external monitors off of my MBP but only use them for fairly basic things such as email, internet, office apps and photoshop (and never plowing through things at the same time)....I get a good 1 second delay moving back and forth between things, even after making a desktop active (the one click to do that and then the second click being my task). What would be causing this? Can I upgrade the RAM in this machine?

You don't need more RAM. You have something else going on.

A current 15" rMBP can push 30 FPS through thunderbolt and 20 through HDMI on a 4K display.

Have you looked at your activity monitor while this is going on?

edit: just saw your using 3 externals, which is above my pay grade. someone else will have to chime in.

I am showing MS Outlook using 140% of my CPU...ha! obviously not good but no idea what it means or how to resolve.
