Seriously weird stuff with MacBook Pro

Today when I woke up MacBook pro the screen went into some weird black and white snowy pattern like a badly tuned TV on an old test card and froze.
Now weird stuff is intermittently happening with Preview, see attachments.
It's colourful but what TF???

It seems as if the contrast settings are changed around.

Try pressing Command-Option-Control-8, and see if it makes a difference. It essentially inverts the color.

I dont think its a hardware issue, as it is occurring only on windows, and is not fixated at one part of the screen- correct?

So far it only happens on Preview (the Apple program) windows and not all the time.

That is really weird. Before calling it a hardware issue, I'd do the regular troubleshooting stuff; repairing permissions and zapping the PRAM. If it's still happening, a file system check might be needed. If that still doesn't fix it, try re-installing the OS.

If none of the above fix it, take to an Apple store to have a look at.
