So why is it that Apple historically releases new products on Tuesdays anyways? Was that just the first date they release the original Apple and they're superstitious? Is that proven to be the best day for sales or media publicity? I'm sure there's a valid reason...

AND...why if the Monday is a holiday do they move the day back to Wednesdays instead??? Are they afraid of the first day following a weekend?

I know Mondays suck but is that the reason?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

Who really knows? The Apple God (Steve Jobs) could have just decided one day, "Apple's product release day is going to be the second day of the week after a weekend, usually Tuesday" and then it was so because he commanded it to be.

On a side note, knowing that they are going to release something on a Tuesday really builds hype amongst the masses that are anxiously awiating a product release. This falls into the theme of Apple and why they are so secretive about things. It is all a marketing ploy.

I noticed this too with a lot of products:

Apple Goods
DVDs
Halo 3 and other video games
The 10th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter 1
Some Movies in Theater

Having worked globally, one idea that occurs to me is that Tuesday (Pacific Time) is a day that all worldwide news services, and therefore eyeballs are available.

Monday's are to busy, you won't get enough attention in the press. Tuesdays are a much better press day, thats why music and dvds are released on tuesdays. Also open rates on direct emails are much better on tuesdays

 This doesn't make any sense. Tuesday is a day that all worldwide news services... WHAT?

Tuesday, probably because...
1) They want to have a day to get everything ready before the launch.
2) Every news company is open on a Tuesday world wide (because on Monday it would still be the weekend in some countries, so they wouldn't get as much media attention).

From Steve himself: “So what we do every Monday is we review the whole business. We look at what we sold the week before. We look at every single product under development, products we’re having trouble with, products where the demand is larger than we can make. All the stuff in development, we review. And we do it every single week. I put out an agenda — 80% is the same as it was the last week, and we just walk down it every single week.

We don’t have a lot of process at Apple, but that’s one of the few things we do just to all stay on the same page.”
