seriously.. Yosemite? Mavericks? Mountain Lion? Lion? why do some people have access to all these other OS's and I only have Mavericks?

What's the difference? Does it just progress from newest version to latest version w/each name change? Any benefit to one over the other??

Lion (10.7) and Mountain Lion (10.8) are older releases. Mavericks (10.9) is current, so it's normal to have access to it.

Yosemite (10.10) is expected to be released next week. Many enthusiasts have joined the "public beta" but typical users are still on Mavericks. Fear not! :)

ahh okay, that makes sense now.. I thought maybe there were like different OS's available for different Apple products or something.. and I guess Yosemite being "beta" is what threw me off.. i was like WTF i need that, gimmeeeeee
