The Hardware:
G5 Quad core 2.5

The problem:
Server Admin stays on the "collecting-info-spinning-wheel" stage, doesn't freeze just won't get any info, won't let you start/stop services or in fact do anything at all.

What I've tried:
Multiple reinstalls of the OS from different discs (including the originally supplied discs), updating to different versions after install.

What's kinda worked:
sudo killall -HUP lookupd
After running that command, *sometimes* I'll then be able to open SA to normal operation.

****extra info in case you need it****

I ran a tcpdump, the only thing out of place that I could see was that the mac was sending out udp packets from 10.10.10.10.asia (its IP address EXCEPT for the .asia part) to other random workstations/servers on the network in the same subnet ALSO with .asia on the end of all those as well. This I don't understand at all, even if it's not part of the solution I'd appreciate anyone who can explain it?!

I've installed 10.4 onto a dual core G5 from the same sources, works every time.
I've switched the hdd out of that into the quad core G5, fails.
I've also replaced the logic board, made no difference
