I have an question about my user account on my mac, I cant connect to my windows server anymore. I have done all the checks and know there is an ussue with my server configuration file. As I can add a new user on my mac and login fine with the same username and password to the server. Is there a way in terminal to delete the configuration file thats made when you connect to a windows server, what is the file called and where do you find it in the system? all I want to do is delete it so it re-makes another one when I re-connect which will fix the problem.

There isn't one "configuration file" that covers everything to do with connecting to a server. You'll need to provide some specifics on your problem, including any error messages you might receive.

Error message says, There was a problem connecting to the server "server name". Check the server name or the IP address, contact your system administrator.

And how are you trying to connect? Browsing to the server or using the connect to server dialog?

Both ways dont work, same message.

Is it this file? Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist

No, that has nothing to do with connecting to a server, and on a Mac, deleting preference files often won't have the desired effect anyway.
You most likely have some sort of network problem rather than a server connection problem.

Thanks chrfr, so the checks I have done: I have disconnected my imac and attached a different imac to the same Ethernet RJ45 port my imac was plugged into... I can connect to the windows server on that different imac using the same login to the windows server that I use on my imac thats not connecting. So I dont think it can be a problem with the server. There are no issues with the server.
[doublepost=1504189145][/doublepost]Plus also, I have created a 2nd test user on the imac and I can login into the windows server with my login with no problems. Its so frustrating, I just need to know where the config, cache,preference file in my main account which will not login or connect to the windows server so I dont have to do a complete re-install. I really dont want to have to do that, it will take a long time due to the set-up I have on the mac!

@mad_bob

Quick question, when you initially connected to the server did you connect to it and a pop up asked for the username and password to connect to the server and checked off the "remember username and password in keychain"?

Have you changed your username or password for the account in question?
