server time machine (client backup)

so I successfully set up a new 10.9/3.0.1 server and tried out the time machine service for backup up client over ethernet... working fine so far... but the client's settings are just too dumb.

i need a whitelist, not a blacklist, as i am merely backing up the client's desktop, documents and some parts of the user library...

i need to be able to change the backup intervals, having dozens of clients running tm every 30min is too much for the network.
