I just noticed that I got a warning triangle saying "Service Battery" - after only 13 months of use. Statpro tells me my battery health is at 77%, with only 296 cycles. Warranty just ran out.. (about a month ago). What should I do? What costs am I looking at?

I was at an Apple-retailer about a month ago where I asked them to check the battery for me, and they stated it was fine, clearly it's not

If it's just a month out they will usually give you some leeway and fix it.

The service battery warning simply indicates your health has dropped below 80%. Since it is a Li-Po battery, it needs to be monitored as certain batteries tend to swell in their end of life.

Personally I wouldn't give it a second thought, but that's me.

Forget speculating & wondering no matter what you've been told in the past. In or out of warranty Apple is very reasonable. Give them a chance to make it right. You'll be glad you did.
