Hi folks,

I installed an OWC Extreme 3G SSD (240GB) in the optical bay of my mid-2010 17-inch MacBook Pro this evening. Upon powering up the machine after install, my battery has shown a "service battery" warning and according to iStats Menu, the health of the battery is down to 68%, from 97% before the install.

The new drive formatted without incident, I've been able to read and write data from/to it, and the machine is functioning normally otherwise.

I tried restarting several times and then I did an SMC reset, nothing has worked.

Does anyone have any history with this sort of issue and/or a resolution to the problem?

Thanks in advance!

Apart from making sure your battery cable is properly seated and calibrating the battery, I don't think I can suggest much more.

Did you disconnect the battery when you were working. There might have been some static discharge that went towards the battery.
