Hi everyone!

I recently ran into some problems with my Macbook Pro where it would randomly kernel panic.

So I spent about 3 days trying to fix it with lots of software-based approaches but then thought to Google hardware issues.

It turns out my laptop comes under this programme: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/13-inch-macbook-pro-solid-state-drive-service but it also turns out it is only valid for 3 years from purchase date, whereas my laptop is 3 years and 10 months old.

Does anyone know if there's any way Apple might still honour the programme and whether there's anything I could say to make a case for repairing it under the programme? I have always taken exemplary care of my laptop and really don't think I could've done anything else to prevent this from happening!

Thanks very much in advance for any advice!

Sure they might. It comes down to luck and how generous/willing they are to fix it on goodwill. Only tip I have is don't be rude or condescending towards the Apple rep since that will definitely not get you anywhere.

Best of luck to you! Hopefully you get it resolved.

Thanks so much for your response and advice! I certainly wouldn't resort to rudeness or condescension, particularly since I've mentally accepted I'll have to pay but will do my best to politely get a free repair! My appointment is booked with the service programme in the subject through Apple's website, so hopefully that means there's a chance they'll look at it with that in mind. Will update here once I've had my appointment!
