Set-up freeze

Glitch? On opening Macbook Pro 2011 Christmas morning my son and I cannot complete setup. After selecting language, screen appears to select country but voice prompts to choose either voice over (if you are familiar with it) or learn about it (escape). Basically there is no escaping this voice over indoctrination and with little sleep the night before neither of us can get the arrows and VO keys straight. In VO/setup assistant misery at the moment. (Couldn't be us, right?!) Please help!

If you have not used mac before the mouse click is more than just a tap. it trackpad will have an audible and tactile click when pressed for a mouse click.
