iPod touch Set up iPod without email address

I'm buying my 8 year old boy an iPod Touch, mainly because he likes to play the many kids games you can get on the App Store (Angry Birds, etc!)

He obviously doesn't own an email account of any kind so my question is this: how would I set up a brand new iPod Touch, so that he can purchase Apps using iTunes Vouchers(bought by family & friends) as opposed to putting in an email address which has a credit card linked to it?

its not obvious. Many people get emails at that age. (not to bash you or anything I applaud you!)

Make an email (they are free) that only you know the password and use that as the setup email.

correct you must have an email to set it up

I suggest you use yours since it is essentially on your account.

Use it on your account, and then set up a restriction so he can't download apps on his own.

Well, you need an Apple ID to buy apps, which requires an email address to create. Good luck!
