setting game accosseries

hi...
i have one question that is my huge problem in gaming:

haw can i setting up game controller in MBP? i mean , i dont want play asphalt 6 with keyboard, and when i plug game controller in MBP , the light is on , but didn't work...
is that any special setting up for game accosseries and controller on MBP ?

If the game support HID then you can set it in game otherwise you need something to map the keys to the keyboard such as:

What would you recommend as the easiest and most useful? I'm using a wired xbox 360 controller if that matters.

I bought USB Overdrive a while back and have been using that and it works fine.

ControllerMate is by far the most useful but it's not the easiest thing to use at first.
