Setting the battery threshold

Well, I've been wondering on how can one set his battery threshold before it turns off completely. I noticed before that my Macbook shuts off if I'm running on battery around 35%. Can I possibly adjust this battery threshold percentage before it shuts off completely? If so, how? Thanks in advance guys!

I have not seen an option for that (although I could have missed it). It should be shutting off at the last possible second before it is totally out of juice.

How old is the battery?

I believe the battery is several years old around 2008 (sorry for the inaccurate information as I've traded my computer with this Macbook from someone, so I barely know).

If the calibration does not work it may be time for a new battery. I have a 2008 as well, I know with moderate usage it was time for a new batter about 6 months ago.

Install iStat Pro to track battery health, among other things. Calibrate your battery to ensure your readings are accurate. If your Mac is shutting down unexpectedly, reset the SMC. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:
