setting transition times in imovie 08

it seems everytime i add a transition it always seems to throw some random time in for the transition effect, even though i have it set for 4 seconds. most of the time it sets it to .2 or .6 and i can't seem to chnge it. anyone know of any ideas to fix this ?

I'm experiencing the same problem

Fixing this problem is the last step in completely a small project I'm working on, and this hinderance is really irritating. Please reply if you were able to find a solution.

wow, necro post, anyways i think the problem i had was that the clips themselves were shorter than 4 seconds. so obviously the transition could not be longer.
