I should be receiving delivery of my first ever MacBook soon:) (non retina 15" Pro).

So, are there any things I should be doing straight ot of the box, such as giving it a full charge, or draining the battery down first etc? I imaging there will be a registration process to navigate through?

Just plug it in and finish charging it. No need to drain the battery. Run on battery whenever you need to and plug it in whenever you can. You can plug or unplug at any time, regardless of the charged percentage. Just make sure you don't run on AC power all the time, as your battery needs to be used regularly to stay healthy. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions:

When you turn it on, it will guide you through the setup process.
