Hi all. I've got a big bunch of Macs and have to put new hard drives and OS X on them, and it takes ages, because I have to first install Panther or Tiger as appropriate from the discs, then run all the updates (which takes ages, even if they're done locally and not downloaded each time).

Basically what I'm looking for is some way to fully update an installed copy of 10.3 or 10.4 on an external drive, but for it NOT to be set up, and then be imaged into a dmg that can be used with Disk Utility's restore function, and once that's done, show up with the OS X setup screen. Is this possible?
