Setting up a new mini with an external iTunes library, not showing any files in my li

So i have a new mini that i want to use as a media server, i have a large iTunes library on an external hard drive and i want the mini to use the external hard drive.

I went in preferences, told iTunes the location of the media folder and then checked the copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library and keep iTunes media folder organized check box.

The problem is iTunes is not showing any movies/songs/etc.., its like there was nothing there, what can i do to force it to see the files without copying them to my mini's hard drive?

Try holding down 'Option' as you launch iTunes. It should come up with a dialog to create a new iTunes library or select one. Just point it at the iTunes library on your external, and you should be good to go.
