Hey Everyone!!

I have 2 Macbooks and 1 PC all laptops. I'm interested in setting up a server to store images, videos and business docs and have them sync with the computers wirelessly.

I thought the cheapest method is to go buy a new cheap $400 PC from Walmart and use that as a small home server. What server software should I use that would allow both PC and Mac to connect. Also, whats the easiest to use? Looking also to include a backup HD for double backup of said images and vids.

Looking at Ubuntu, but really as you can tell have no clue.

I haven't tested it with Mac yet (will do in a few days) but I use FreeNAS as a file share, music server (over DAAP and UPnP) and torrent box. You just set it up once with a monitor, then after that you access the config from a web browser on any computer on the network. Something you may want to look into, and it really doesn't require any Linux terminal knowledge like Ubuntu server does.
