Setting up a wireless backup drive via a router

Hi

I'd like to be able to backup (using Time Machine) my MacBook to a hard-drive plugged into a USB port on my Netgear wireless router. I've tried doing this but can't find out how to make the drive appear on my Mac's desktop.

Any advice welcome, please!
