I just bought an external USB2 hard drive.

Can I have it partitioned and use HFS for backing up my files on one partition, and create a second partition in FAT32 to use as added space for Windows/bootcamp ?

Also - if i drag my files over to the external drive, how do I keep other users from accessing them ?

Sorry for the newb questions!

I believe this can all be done in Disk Utility, which is located in Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility.

Do a quick google search and I'm certain you will be able to find instructions on how to do this.

OK I got the partitions right, but the files I drag to the backup drive are still accessable by anyone - any advice?

Hmm, I'm afraid I can't really help you on that one. Have you found a good guide through Google? I'm sure that would solve your problem, if not, you could Google your specific problem.

Or...try a forum search.

Sorry I can't be of anymore help.
