...long title
I would like to set up a home network file sharing computer. The only computer that I have available at the moment is a fairly powerful windows box which has XP media center.
I have access to ANY (except ms office) windows software from my university so I can install Windows 7 Pro (some how?? even though its not released), Windows Server '03, '08, XP, Windows Services for UNIX etc and was wondering which was the best to use. The main thing is to have local file sharing that works on Mac OS X, and I can not install Linux on the server machine as a few games are played on the machine every so often. The computer a screen connected to it so remote access is not really an issue.
The server can be switched on all the time, so I would like it so that when someone switch's on a computer (such as a MacBook) the file server automatically appears.
I had seen thishttp://guides.macrumors.com/Networking_Windows_with_Mac_OS_X but thought it to be slightly outdated.
Any help much appreciated.
