I'm thinking about perhaps buying a MacbookPro with touchbar.

However, I'm wondering if I turn on FileVault when setting up the computer, can it work with Touchid - or would I have to always type a password on the keyboard to log in (in which case I wouldn't bother with FileVault) ?

With FV and TouchID when you first boot up you will need type in the password. But if you just leave it logged in and let it go to sleep, or just close the lid, when you wake it up the TouchID alone will let you back in.

I use it this way and it works well.
