Hello. this is my first time trying a RAID configuration, I already did all my research, I know all about it, and I have a pretty strong background in computers, so I'm not too worried about messing up anything..
I've also got a external USB drive that has the entire OS X Mavericks installed on it as the OS X recovery tool so if any problems to arise, all I have to do is just restart my MacBook Pro with the USB drive plugged in and I can installed full version of Mavericks directly from that
As for the components inside, I have a 2011 MacBook Pro with 2.4 GHz Intel i7 quad core with 16 GB of RAM and 2x Samsung 850 Pro internal SSD drives with 512gb each..
I am looking to do a full RAID on my system, so that I can ultimately have 1024GB (in essence) of one main Macintosh HD.. I work with music and a bunch of small files and MP3s and things like that, so I made sure to go ahead and set the block size count at 16K, which was the smallest option that it had on there
I wasn't sure if it would be smarter for me to re-do the RAID over, and have one partition with just Macintosh HD on it, and then RAID the rest of it, I'm not sure if it makes a difference since I always keep an OS X recovery tool set up on a spare USB drive (just in case for emergencies)..
btw- I also have a 2TB Apple Time Capsule which I do frequent backups on, in addition to frequent external backups.
With everything said, should I be alright having Macintosh HD as part of the one and only main partition on my RAID-0 configuration? Thanks!!
