I chose to transfer data from my old Phone and was then prompted to update new phone to iOS 14.2. I've been stuck in that update for an hour ("Install Now" and spinning beachball) and can't do anything else on/with the new phone.

What can/should I do?

I’m having the same issue. Tried starting over but so far the same issue persists...

Always chose restore form iCloud instead of transfer from phone. It’s usually a lot quicker and you can use ur phone during the process!

I’m not sure that’s true. I used the transfer from phone option for the first time this time and I think it was much quicker than the iCloud restore. Especially if you count the time it would take to update the backup of your old phone. It only took about 10 minutes to transfer the data, then the phone rebooted and I was able to use it as it downloaded all the apps from the cloud, similar to how a restore from the cloud would have worked.

I had three failed transfer from phone setups today (first one was related to the update bug), but the fourth time I did the iCloud backup method and I was up and running in a few minutes. I was going from an XS Max to a 12 Mini. Maybe the 11 is better at this?

Well sounds like you didn’t have that much to transfer. But far less problems with iCloud then phone to phone. Takes 45 minutes for me phone to phone but 10 min iCloud. but I always do a back up the night before launch day so I don’t have to do one while setting up.

For me, the transfer from phone option was a big mistake and caused, I think, the software update failure. Once I restored the phone I went through the update manually process and selected iCloud backup to restore from. The software update was very fast and the whole setup process took less than 30 minutes, including pairing with my Watch.

One thing I was relieved about was that the ATT validation only took about 30 seconds.

I am having an issue of all of my apps are still loading.

Only Apple apps are all set.

I have restarted, signed in and out of the app store...

Don't know what is going on.

I was. But I fixed it.

I just reset network settings. Reinput my wifi password and all is well!!
Glad it’s working. I wonder if you had low data mode turned on for the wifi connection before you reset it. That might also prevent the apps from loading.

Not sure. But I just looked and changed it to standard.

No 5G here in Mass yet for Verizon.

I appreciate your help.

I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing. What I meant was the following:

Go to Settings, then WiFi, then click the little blue (I) for your active wifi network. There is a toggle in there for “Low Data Mode” which will prevent it from performing certain high data usage operations over that WiFi connection.

It’s been a long day.

I see where you’re talking about.

Low data mode is off. Maybe it was on before I reset network settings.

Again, appreciate the help.

Initially I also got little frustrated but as someone suggested here, tried signing out and in(didn’t realise a while that need to sign in separately in App Store which contributed to overall waiting) then it started installing one after the other in my 12PM.

I could launch all of them with the complete data and credentials like a fresh Joyce, didn’t expect such a smooth iPhone Upgrade (unlocked and did the upgrade self).

It is worth a wait!
