I am converting to Mac from Windows for the first time. I have had quite a struggle getting my IMAP mail over. There are several issues that I may be asking more about later. For now, here are the issues:

1. I had a problem on the Outlook side converting about 5GB of POP3 mail to IMAP, in preparation for moving to the Mac. Because of the 2GB limitation for PST files, I had to break up the mail stores into a couple of IMAP stores.

2. In addition, due to issues with the Outlook conversion crashing due to problems with invalid characters in folder names, and having folders with non-mail items, I had to restart quite a few times until I had these causes of problems sorted out.

The net result is that I finally got everything into IMAP, but with a fragmented set of stores, which also had a lot of duplication.

In the meantime, I started another conversion using O2M, which I may or may not need to use.

Here are my observations and questions:

1. It appears when you have two separate IMAP stores, when you try to move mailboxes between them, you get a copy rather than a move. This is ok, except that it does not seem to be documented, at least where I have been able to find it. I am looking for confirmation of the "move not copy" trait (which makes some sense).

2. The normal folder color is light blue. However, I have some folders that are clear white, which seems to indicate that they are empty. I cannot copy items into those folders, nor Rebuild them. I need to correct this. How do I restore the "empty" folders to normality.

3. In addition, many times during the reconfiguration of the IMAP folder layout, the process go extremely slow. For example, stopping for 15 minutes at a time, or copying one mail item over the course of several seconds. I cannot explain this by network congestion, and the mail server is doing nearly nothing (top of 0.00 for example, and imap at very low system usage).

4. Mail has locked up several times and I have had to force quit.

Any tips in these areas are appreciated.
