Hi guys,

I finally took the jump and ordered my first iMac (27") and am anxious about getting it set up correctly. I still need to use Windows 7 for Autodesk's Inventor CAD program and some of my old art stuff created in Paint Shop Pro.

I am thinking about buying an OEM version of Win7 to install via Bootcamp and then install my copies of Inventor and Paint Shop Pro on there. I was thinking of having the job/art files for these programs on a new external HDD.

So..... would a 100GB partition be enough if I'm only loading programs on it and keeping the files themselves on the external? Would there be any issues with this set up? Also, what type of format do I format the external HDD to (I've read somewhere that Windows formatted drives are incompatible with the Mac), if I am mainly going to be using it for my windows programs??

Many thanks in advance for your help. Hope you all have had a great Hogmanay and New Year!

George
