Ive just turned on my new iPhone 5 to set it all up. Put the sim in and all fine. Then walked over to plug it into iTunes so I can use my old backup. Within this time it had turned off. Plugging it into mains power, into iMac or trying a hard reset all do nothing.

Anything more that I can try?

I'd say take it back to apple.

It is possible the battery is completely drained so keep it plugged in for an hour and see if that resolves the issue

Thanks

After quite a few attemps at a hard reset it is now back on. The battery was at about 60% so dont think it was that. I will keep an eye on it as my last iPhone had constent resets and powerdowns and I never got it sorted till late.
