Getting a IPhone X in the next few days. I currently have a IPhone 6 that I have had since it was released. For the past few years, I have not been able to back it up via ITunes. Always gives me an error or says there isn't enough space. I have tried on my 2008 MacBook and my wife's MacBook Air. I eventually got Icloud and use that and sometimes it still says that it was not fully backed up, even though on Icloud it shows my info. I have a feeling that some files in my phone are corrupt. I want to set up the X as a new phone.

I would like to save my Imessages and photos. Any way of doing this when I get the X? Or is the only way to backup Imessagee and put on a new phone is through iTunes? I know my pictures are in the cloud, but Imessages are not.

All the apps and contacts I have, I can manually do. Kind of stumped on what to do.

Thanks!
