If it's your system disk your mirroring and you can supply 2 new disks for the mirror, just create the mirror using 'disk utility' in the tiger install, then install tiger. You can then migrate everything from the other disk using the migration assistant (choose 'another partition on this mac').
Worked a treat for me, very impressed how smooth it was.
